Dr.
Stavros T. Ponis has graduated from the School of Mechanical Engineering
of the National Technical University Athens (NTUA) in 1996. His
master thesis aimed in the design of a functional module for enhancing
the functionality of an expert system that aimed to assist enterprises
in the selection of ERP software packages.
Dr. Ponis also owns a PhD
from National
Technical University Athens which focuses on the elaboration of
a business reference model to support the production management
and logistics processes of the Apparel Industry.
In
the beginning of his career (1996), Dr. Ponis has worked as an
IT Manager
- for almost three years- on behalf of a leading apparel enterprise.
Later on (2000-2001), he was involved in several targeted research projects
on behalf of NTUA/SIMOR as a Researcher. Since
December 2001 he was appointed with a position of
Teaching and Research Associate in the Section
of Industrial Management and Operational Research of National Technical
University Athens. As from November 2005, he has been elected a
Lecturer in the scientific area of Supply Chain Management
and he
currently teaches a series of courses such as Supply Chain
Management, Operations Research, E-Commerce, Management of
Production Information Systems, ERP Systems and Operations Research
Laboratory.
Stavros' publications include book
chapters, papers published in fully
reviewed scientific journals, scientific papers presented in
International Conferences (double blind review system), Lecture
Notes and Presentation for the support of the educational process in
NTUA. Stavros is currently the editor of a forthcoming book
from IGI Global, entitled "Managing Risk in
Virtual Enterprise Networks: Implementing Supply Chain Principles"
(http://www.igi-global.com/requests/details.asp?ID=512).
Finally, his publication short-term objectives include the
authoring of a Book to support the course OR Laboratory he
is currently teaching and his participation as an editor in the
publication of an Encyclopedia in the field of Virtual
Enterprises. Stavros also has acted as
an associate editor in two academic journals and as
a member of the Scientific Committee in several
International Conferences.
Stavros' research interests are traditionally
resided in the areas of Production Planning and
Control, Supply Chain Management, Business Process Modelling, Networked
and Virtual Enterprises, and Information Systems that
support all the above. In addition, Stavros has worked on his
post doc research (2006-2008) on the field of
Knowledge Management and Logistics to support Virtual Enterprise Networks.
In that context he acted as the main researcher of the
project "A Reference Model to Support Knowledge Logistics in a
Virtual Enterprise Environment" funded by the Ministry of
National Education and Religious Affairs (http://simor.ntua.gr/pythagoras/index.html). His current research interests and publications move around the areas
of
Supply Chain Network Management, Knowledge Logistics for Empowering
Supply Chain Effectiveness and Performance, UML and Agent Modelling,
E-Commerce and Supply Chain Management Systems.
Based on his experience on Supply Chain
and Information Management, Stavros has been appointed from
the European Union an Expert Reviewer in two
different research units, these being INFSO.E2: Technologies
for Information Management and D5-ICT for
Enterprise Networking. Up to now, and for the last five
years, Stavros has monitored, evaluated and finally approved
the works of two large European Projects with a budget sum
of over seven million €.
Stavros also is an expert reviewer for the General
Secretariat of Research and Development and the
Greek Information Society S.A.
Stavros, is speaking Greek (native), English (fluently), German
and French (Intermediate)
